Formed in 2016, Wooden Shapes is a sextet based in Trois-Rivières, known for its bold fusion of classical string instruments and rock music.
The group rose to prominence in 2019 when it won the regional finals of Cégeps en spectacle with a spectacular cover of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” Since then, Wooden Shapes has performed throughout Quebec and in France, where it has proudly represented Canada on two occasions before crowds of over 15,000 people. The sextet also made a name for itself in June 2024 at Place des Arts in Montreal, marking a major milestone in its career.
Combining their passion and virtuosity, Maggie Dudemaine (cellist), William Boisvert (violist), David Beaudry (violinist), Julien Chandonnet (violinist), Étienne Demers (violist), and François Brunelle (double bassist) brilliantly blur the lines between genres.
Their acclaimed show, From Classical to Rock!, has captivated sold-out audiences across Quebec with its energetic medleys and original reinterpretations of rock classics. In 2023, Wooden Shapes released their debut album, Turbulence, featuring original compositions and rock arrangements. Starting in February 2026, Wooden Shapes will hit the road with the sequel to their first show, From Classical to Rock! 2: a refreshed repertoire, explosive arrangements, and even more thrills.
