Winner of the 1st prize at the Granby International Song Festival in 2017, Pierre Guitard is a rising figure in the Acadian indie movement. Originally from Madran, New Brunswick, he made his stage debut in 2010. He has distinguished himself in several popular competitions such as the Caraquet Song Gala (2013) and the Kedgwick Song Summit (2014). Alternating between country-folk and psych-indie, his first songs offered melodic hooks, preternaturally lyrical hooks, and the kind of sophisticated humour usually reserved for much more established artists. Earlier this year, just after stepping foot back in Canada from a one-month tour in Europe, he won the prize Découverte - Acadie at the Gala des prix Trille Or. He will continue to tour Canada, from one ocean to the other, for the rest of the year.
