Downtown Fiasco
Formed in 2015 in Montreal, DownTown Fiasco is a bilingual ska-punk band. Their music is festive, energetic, catchy and dedicated to making audiences dance, sing and have an unforgettable time.
The band released their debut album Insatisfaction Garantie in 2016, which deals with social criticism, political demands and personal experiences. This album enabled the band to take part in several national-scale concerts such as the Republiska tour (with American band Voodoo Glow Skulls) on April 3, 2016, the Music 4 Cancer concert on September 20, 2016, the Montreal Ska Festival on September 29, 2016 and Pouzza Fest on May 18, 2017.
The song LVIICCCLVIII from the album Insatisfaction Garantie is featured on the ska compilation Ça tire! Vol. 2 (April 10, 2017). This single enabled Downtown Fiasco to be heard in other countries thanks to underground media such as MutanteRadio (mutanteradio.com) and Talk The Ska (soundcloud.com-talktheska). Other Quebec and Canadian media such as the Moshpit Punk Show, The Beer Punk Show En Studio, Sewer Spewer, Le Punk Rock Show du Matin, to name but a few, have also helped promote Downtown Fiasco's work.
In the wake of the 2020 pandemic, the band underwent a change of line-up and musical style. Downtown Fiasco's music became heavier and more aggressive. Their two singles USA and 30 ans de moins were released in 2020 and 2022 respectively. The band performed at Montreal's Skafest in September 2022 and toured extensively in 2023 and 2024, accompanying such Quebec ska-punk bands as Slater & Fils, 2 Stone 2 Skank and Kman & the 45s.
Despite the pandemic, the band has remained active, performing in bars and concert halls across Quebec. Since 2022, Downtown Fiasco has played in Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Chicoutimi, Trois-Rivières, Tadoussac, Baie-Saint-Paul, Sainte-Thérèse and Vaudreuil-Dorion. In addition to their concert schedule, Downtown Fiasco is hard at work on new songs inspired by the issues of modern society. Downtown Fiasco's next album explores the isolation and powerlessness of the individual. It offers a nihilistic look at progress and society, from gun control to interpersonal turmoil. Of course, despite the darker subjects, Downtown Fiasco's music remains festive and upbeat. You can't go wrong: audiences who attend Downtown Fiasco concerts have a blast every time!
