Meet young Cree author Coltrane Seesequasis, author of the critically acclaimed fantasy series A Wolf in the Sun. Combining fantasy and science fiction, the first book of the series, Secrets of the Stone, puts Nature at the centre of the plot, as centuries from now the forces of nature and sentient animals have won the war against humans. An ambitious young wolf cub, Silversong, intends to rise in the hierarchy of his pack. To

write this series, Coltrane Seesequasis drew on the legends and myths of his own culture, as well as his love of nature. The author will read an extract from his novel, then attempt to answer the following question: Does fantasy, often decried as a non-serious literary genre, allow us to tackle societal issues such as climate change? This will be followed by a discussion with the audience and a book signing.
