The award-winning Canadian writer Madeleine Thien on her major new novel, The Book of Records, in conversation with Eleanor Wachtel.

Inspired by the lives and work of the 20th c. political thinker Hannah Arendt, the 17th c. Dutch philosopher, Baruch Spinoza, and the 8th c. Chinese poet Du Fu, Madeleine Thien weaves a multilayered story of migration and impermanence. She explores experiences across continents and centuries with her characteristic ambition and unique poetic voice.
