In the first part, Pierre Hantaï presents a selection of works of his choice for approximately 30 minutes. In the second part, the harpsichordist tackles the monumental Goldberg Variations.
Bach's Goldberg Variations have played a central role in the life of harpsichordist Pierre Hantaï since his youth. At the age of 28, he recorded them in a version that still stands among the most admired. François-Xavier Roth testified to this in Diapason magazine in 2019: "I constantly return to Pierre Hantaï's Goldbergs, which are for me an absolute reference. How not to be dazzled by such intelligence and culture, combined with such means, where the infinite palette of colors and inexhaustible imagination illuminate the text with such formidable rigor?"
