The EngiQueers Canada Conference is a national gathering celebrating LGBTQ+ students and professionals in engineering. Delegates from across the country come together for workshops, discussion groups, and panels, to connect with queer-positive professionals who are shaping a more inclusive future in STEM. This year’s conference is in collaboration with Pride in Engineering (PIE), a non-profit organization committed to inspiring, supporting, and connecting 2SLGBTQIA+ graduated professional engineers.
This year’s theme, Foundations for Resilience, builds on the idea that engineering is rooted in problem-solving—and so is advocacy. In a time when LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities continue to face rising adversity, we are focusing on how strong foundations in organization, collaboration, and care can help us sustain ourselves and each other. Together, we will explore questions such as: What does resilience in engineering look like? How do we navigate cultures and systems that make authenticity feel risky? How can we use our engineering mindset to design communities that help us thrive?
Registration includes lunch on both days and a ticket to the gala dinner, and professional attendees have full access to all sessions and panels. Wherever you are in your advocacy journey, we invite you to Vancouver to continue strengthening the structures that support your work, your wellbeing, and your leadership throughout your career and beyond.

Ari Copeland
Ari Copeland (he/him) is an Operations Specialist at Black & Veatch with over 18 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. Trained in civil and environmental engineering, Ari also holds Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator licenses and a Professional Operator designation. He has served as a Director-at-Large and Vice President of the American Water Works Association.
As a transgender man Ari is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Having spent nearly half his professional career being perceived as a woman before transitioning, Ari brings a powerful perspective on how gender, identity, and assumptions shape workplace culture. His lived experience has informed his work advocating for safer, more inclusive environments across engineering and water organizations.
Through his consulting initiative, The Wandering Water Bear, Ari supports companies and industry professionals in building inclusive behaviors and dismantling barriers faced by LGBTQIA+ people in technical fields. His approach blends personal narrative, practical tools, and systems-level reflection, helping teams move beyond awareness toward genuine cultural change.
Ari’s message is one of resilience, authenticity, and community care: that choosing to live truthfully can transform not only one’s own life, but also the systems we work within.
