Born in Victoriaville, Élisabeth Provencher is a Montreal based saxophonist. She graduated from Cegep St-Laurent and McGill University, completing a Bachelor’s in jazz performance with honorable mention. Her mentors include Alexandre Côté, Jean-Pierre Zanella, Rémi Bolduc and Christine Jensen, and during her studies, she had the opportunity to share the stage with internationally recognized artists including Sam Newsome, Jean-Michel Pilc and Ryan Truesdell.

For the past eight years, Élisabeth has been playing professionally in many groups including big bands, trio, quintet and others. She performed in some of Canada’s finest Jazz festivals including Festival de jazz de Montréal, JPLJazzfest and TUJF. Lately she has been focused on performing her original music with her group, the EP Quintet. After being awarded a grant from CALQ, she released her debut album, Le monde adulte, at L’Astral in June 2021.

Élisabeth is an accomplished educator, teaching in several high schools including l’Harmonie Inspiration of Victoriaville. In April 2021, she led a masterclass on improvisation at the Concours Solistes et Petits Ensembles de la FHOSQ, a leading organization in the province’s musical education. For the past five years, she has been teaching music at Village Notre-Dame-de-Lourse in Haïti, and she is now the coordinator of the FENDLI music camp.
