Do You Want What I have Got? A Craigstlist Cantata

Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata by Veda Hille, Bill Richardson, and Amiel Gladstone

Before Instagram and TikTok, before the algorithm decided who we were and who we might love, there was Craigslist. This offbeat music-driven play sets actual Craigslist classifieds, missed connections, and personal ads to a witty, tuneful score. By turns hilarious and unexpectedly poignant, the piece moves through the absurd corners of online life (oddities for sale, lonely seekers of love, eccentrics looking for roommates) and uncovers the longing, grief, and tenderness beneath the screen. A meditation on a society of people who, despite being more connected than ever, remain strangers to one another. Directed by Jonathan Monro and performed by the second-year students of the Professional Theatre Program at Dawson College.
