A screening of the slasher cult classic THE DRILLER KILLER (1979) paired with feature-length porno 9 LIVES OF A WET PUSSY (1976)

This will be the first theatrical screening of this version of 9 LIVES, which was restored from the original 35mm negative by Vinegar Syndrome. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see it on the big screen! Restored versions of the films courtesy of The American Genre Film Archive, Arrow Films, and Vinegar Syndrome. 

We are very excited to be screening the first two feature films from Abel Ferrara’s iconic, controversial and subversive filmography. Come celebrate grimy 1970s New York in all its glory with two films chockfull of wireless power drills, hardcore sex, and raw performances from the director himself. We are thrilled to be showing this double feature at Montreal’s Cinema L’Amour in a tribute to the theatre’s storied history and the porno chic era of the 1970s. 

UPDATE: Very happy to announce that we will be adding a post-film discussion with Justine T. McLellan to the evening! Stick around after the two movies for a conversation on sex in film and the historical context of 70s exploitation cinema.

A little bit about our guest: Justine T. McLellan teaches cinema and communications at Dawson College. She specializes in sexual representations: her research focuses on feminist interpretations of pornography, the representation of BDSM in film, and the sex worker's rights movement. She produced season two of the podcast on the history of sex work, The Oldest Profession, and has been published in the anthology I Confess: Constructing the Sexual Self in the Digital Age.
