On April 27 2024, at 7:30 pm, the Chœur classique de l'Outaouais invites you to travel to Celtic lands, for a rendez-vous with the music and songs of Scotland, Wales, Brittany and Ireland.
Under the direction of Tiphaine Legrand, with the Musicalement Fleet ensemble and pianist Anthony Lampron, we'll take you from the banks of Loch Lomond to the cliffs of Brittany, over mountains, moors, and peat bogs.
Whether in Irish, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Breton, English or French, and to the accompaniment of harp, violin, cello, percussion – and, yes, the bagpipes will be part of it! – each of these Celtic peoples gives us its particular flagrance.
As our musical director Tiphaine Legrand so aptly puts it:
Celtic civilization, with its thousand-year-old culture still very much alive today, offers us a great repertoire for choirs whose words draw on its history: of legends, battles, sea voyages, beliefs and love, of course...

We invite you to watch tthe following pre-concert talk (in French only) hosted by François Gauthier (host of Chez Gauthier, Unique FM, 94.5) who discuss with Tiphaine Legrand the themes at the heart of the Irish, Scottish, Breton and Welsh songs to be presented, as well as the challenges of learning Celtic languages.

Tiphaine Legrand, directrice musicale
Tiphaine Legrand has a rich background in choir conducting. She studied singing and choir conducting with Chantal Masson-Bourque at Université Laval, then with Nicole Paiement and Robert Ingari at Université de Sherbrooke. Tiphaine is a passionate pedagogue of choral music and works with singers of all ages and in many musical styles. Founder and then artistic director of the ensemble Kô in its early years, Tiphaine particularly explored the links between early music and that of contemporary Québécois composers. She is responsible for the choral singing sector at the LUMI School of the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music, and she is the music and choir director of the Chœur classique de l'Outaouais since September 2011.
Driven by a desire to make choral singing more accessible and inclusive, she directs a choir at the Centre AVC/Aphasie Laval as part of a pilot project initiated by SAMS (Société pour les arts en milieux de santé). She is also a member of the Collège des chefs de l'Alliance chorale du Québec and provides choral conducting training for primary school teachers.
Anthony Lampron, pianiste
Pianist Anthony Lampron works as an accompanist, repetiteur and vocal coach. Throughout his practice, he has developed a great affinity with the vocal repertoire. In addition to his work as the accompanist with the Choeur classique de l'Outaouais, the Ottawa classical choir and the University of Ottawa choir, he has worked with many singers and choirs including the Chanterelle de la Lièvre, the Choeur d'enfants de l'École Massé, the Choeur Alarica and the Chorale Pop de Montréal.
He has also performed for The School of Dance in Ottawa, Candlelight Concerts, Orchestre symphonique de Gatineau, McGill University, Université de Montréal, Théâtre d'art lyrique de Laval, Atelier lyrique de Chambly and the Bologna International Opera Academy in Italy.
