Event organized in partnership with Le Festival Accès Asie, Kabir Centre is pleased to present two Indian artists of international fame in a unique concert at Salle Bourgie of Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. This concerts brings together Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Pandit Subhen Chatterjee who are coming to us all the way from Kolkata in India. Creator of the Mohan Veena through modification of the Hawaiian Guitar and the winner of Grammy along with Ry Cooder, Bhatt has charmed audiences wherever he performs, with his pure, delicate and passionate music. Leading disciple of the legendary of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Bhatt belongs to the exclusive circle of musicians tracing their roots back to the great Tansen, the court musician of the Moghul Emperor Akbar. He has travelled around North-America, Europe, the Middle-East and India and has been acclaimed everywhere. He will be accompanied on percussion by Pandit Subhen Chatterjee, an explosive tabla player who has collaborated with the greatest of musicians and has produced more than 30 CD's.

PANDIT VISHWAMOHAN BHATT

Creator of the Mohan Veena (modification of the Hawaiian Guitar) and the winner of a Grammy award along with Ry Cooder, Mr. Vishwamohan Bhatt has mesmerized the world with his pristine pure and delicate, yet fiery, music. Being the foremost disciple of the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, Vishwa Mohan belongs to that elite body of musicians that traces its roots back all the way to the centuries-old Moghul empire in India and its famous court musician Tansen and his guru Swami Ramdas. Being a powerhouse performer, he effortlessly captures the audience wherever he performs, be it in North America, Europe, Middle East or his own motherland India. He will be accompanied on percussion by Mr. Subhen Chatterjee, a flamboyant player of the tabla who has collaborated with leading musicians in India and abroad. He has over thirty CD’s to his credit performing as accompanist as well as soloist.

PANDIT SUBHEN CHATTERJEE

Pt. Subhen Chatterjee has played LIVE in a 60 minute non-stop composition with 300+ musicians, playing over 350 different musical instruments which has recently helped him entering into the Guinness Book of World Records in the category as : Longest single performance by largest number of musicians, live on Stage. He is the disciple of Pandit Swapan Choudhry. In 1985 he created the fusion band Karma. He has also recorded with V.M. Bhatt and Matt Malley on the album 'Sleepless Nights' for 'World Village Records'. His album 'Artistry' recorded in Kansas City was nominated for a Grammy.
