Beyries
Amélie Beyries found refuge in music when she was diagnosed with cancer and released her first song, the touching "Soldier," which speaks of the courage to say no and listen to yourself. Won over by what he heard, the talented Alex McMahon gladly agreed to perform the artist's songs. On stage, she became BEYRIES (pronounced bé-riss) and released her first album, Landing, in 2017. Bringing together soothing and sensitive pieces with folk and pop overtones, the album was warmly received. Landing was even nominated for Album of the Year – Anglophone (2017) and Show of the Year at ADISQ (2018), while BEYRIES received the André “Dédé” Fortin Award from the Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec foundation in 2018.
Encounter, her second album, again produced by Alex McMahon, was released in 2020. The album explores the new horizons that emerge through encounters and touring, because, for BEYRIES, music is a way to build bridges and establish connections. In the summer of 2023, BEYRIES returns with the single “What About Hiding,” co-written and produced by American Aben Eubanks (Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande), and its French adaptation “Seule sans toi,” by singer-songwriter Doriand (Mika).
At the same time, BEYRIES is preparing a first full album in French for 2024, Du feu dans les lilas, mixed and mastered in France by Jean-Louis Pierrot (Etienne Daho and Jane Birkin). She entrusted the production to Joseph Marchand (Pierre Lapointe, Forêt), a musician whose sensitivity she admires. For the writing of the lyrics, the musician once again calls upon the poetic pen of her accomplice Maxime Le Flaguais. Praised by the public and critics, the album won the Félix in the category Album of the Year - Adult Contemporary 2024.
