“It’s the first snow of the year!” These are the first words of Laura Hawley’s playful arrangement of Hawksley Workman’s song celebrating winter.

We celebrate the pleasures of winter, with music including “Walking in the Air”, from the animated version of the children’s story “The Snowman”, and “Whose Woods”, Moira Smiley’s setting of Robert Frost’s “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening”.

Also on the programme are familiar carols in contemporary settings by Bob Chilcott, Donald Patriquin, Philip Lawson and Tripp Carter.

We take a special pleasure in presenting a number of original carols, including the “Ukrainian Alleluia” by Craig Courtney and the Nigerian carol, “Amuworo ayi otu nwa” by Christian Onyeji.
