Ligue de Bluegrass de Montréal

Brought together by banjoist Guy Donis following release of the album of the same name, the Montreal Bluegrass League takes you on a journey through the history of bluegrass music, from its beginnings to its most recent evolutions. Bluegrass is a surprisingly recent style of music, developed in the mid-20th century by pioneers like Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs from a blend of traditional Appalachian music with a sprinkling of blues and gospel, making it one of the earliest hybrids in history! The characteristic instruments of this music, 5-string banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar and bass, have since evolved thanks to virtuosos like David Grisman, Béla Fleck, Mark O'Connor and many others, but always with respect for the original sound. The stated objective for these four passionate virtuosos is to have maximum fun and to share it with you! www.guydonis.com/montreal-bluegrass-league
