Thrash La Reine
Heavy Metal from Montreal
Thrash La Reine is a Montreal-based heavy metal band formed in the fall of 2017. The band stands out for its commitment to performing entirely in French—a rarity in the metal scene, even within a French-speaking province. Drawing inspiration from Quebec folklore, legends, and traditional tales, Thrash La Reine has forged a distinctive musical identity.
Shortly after forming, the band quickly wrote its first songs and began working with producer Pierre Rémillard, leading to the release of its debut EP, La foi, la loi, la croix, in May 2019. The record brings together all the essential elements of heavy metal: electrifying guitar riffs, memorable choruses, and an energetic rhythm section. Its lyrics explore themes ranging from video game addiction and the stresses of everyday life to the Canadian monarchy and the 1759 Battle of the Plains of Abraham. La foi, la loi, la croix helped establish the band on Montreal's local metal scene while building a growing audience throughout Quebec and across the French-speaking world.
In October 2021, Thrash La Reine released its first full-length album, Notre-Dame-de-l'Enfer. This concept album draws heavily on Quebec folklore, with lyrics inspired by legendary tales such as La Chasse-Galerie and La Corriveau. It also incorporates traditional Quebec musical influences through both its melodies and vocal harmonies. The album was produced by Francis Perron (Voivod – The Wake) and recorded at Studio RadicArt. To support its release, the band partnered with the independent label Bam&Co. Heavy (Anonymus, BARF, Nova Spei) for distribution and promotion throughout Quebec.
