Rives traces the evolution of Japanese music following its contact with the West in addition to integrating classical pieces by Western composers with Japanese influences through music. Ranging from traditional Japanese music to freshly composed contemporary music via the classical era, it takes the music lover through this great history of music and the meeting between nations.
