Electro-Sabar is like a head on collision between Senegalese drums and gritty electronic beats. Guiss Guiss Bou Bess (meaning “New Vision” in Wolof) “turns the global music world on its head by bringing a new dimension to traditional Senegalese music,” (Radio Nova, 2021). Since 2016, this trio out of Dakar’s bustling neighbourhoods has been reinventing one of the most emblematic rhythms from the land of Teranga by injecting the raw power of ritual Sabar percussion and the transcendental beauty of spiritual chants with an infusion of UK garage, grime, dubstep and house, artfully crafting hybrid trance music that is futuristic, explosive, and unifying.
