Kallisto is a Montréal-based ensemble blending klezmer, Balkan, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European traditions with original compositions and improvisation. Founded in 2020 by clarinetist Dr. Jossée MacInnis, the core trio—MacInnis (clarinet), Dana Loftus (percussion), and Max Chemtov (bassoon)—creates music designed for dance, movement, and communal connection. Their performances, including klezmer jam sessions and Yiddish dance events, transform concerts into participatory celebrations. Highlights include EPs Arcas (2023) and Tigris (2024) and collaborations at Sala Rossa and La Cenne. Kallisto’s music invites audiences to move together, celebrating tradition and community in every note.
