Antonio Vivaldi needs no introduction. Within his prolific instrumental output, his style alternates between energetic and expressive, showcasing tireless inventiveness, virtuosic composition, and meticulous attention to timbre, all of which continue to provide immediate and unadulterated pleasure. While primarily renowned as a violinist, he also extensively composed for voice, leaving behind around thirty operas, as well as a significant corpus of secular cantatas and motets. Many of the arias from these works, characterized by sensuality and often highly virtuosic composition, would have been perfectly at home on the stage.
