Julie Boulianne, mezzo-soprano

Luc Beauséjour, piano

Program :

Liederkreis, opus 39 by Robert Schumann and other works

Plunge into the heart of German Romanticism with the remarkable mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne, accompanied by pianist Luc Beauséjour, in a program devoted to the art of the Lied. The highlight of the concert is Robert Schumann's Liederkreis, opus 39, one of the most poignant lieder cycles of the 19th century. Composed in 1840, the so-called “Year of the Lied” in Schumann's life, this cycle sets poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, imbued with naturalism, mystery and solitude. Schumann deploys the expressive richness of his harmonic and poetic palette.

The program is rounded off with a selection of Lieder by various composers.
