P’tit Belliveau is the full-time project of Jonah Guimond, an experimental pop artist and proud resident of Baie-Sainte-Marie, Nova Scotia, who is behind generational anthems like “Income Tax,” “J’aimerais d’avoir un John Deere,” and “L’église de St. Bernard.” Blending country, bluegrass, pop-rock, and everything in between into arrangements that are partly synthetic yet always deeply human, he sings about the small joys and inevitable pitfalls of everyday life, developing—across four acclaimed albums—a charming microcosm that responds to the only true imperatives of the market: his own desires and his audience. Prolific because playing his tunes is the best job in the world, he covers a wide range while asking himself as few questions as possible: he’s here to have fun, feel good, and feel great, and to help the world have just a little bit more love—and the result is inevitably catchy.
