Biography

Zoé Jean-Deslauriers is a singer-songwriter who, waltzing between Percé and Montreal, is inspired by the Gaspé landscapes, the whirlwind of the city center and the echo of her vivid emotions. She graduated from the Vincent-d'Indy School of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance as well as from McGill University in Jazz Voice Performance where she studied with Ranee Lee, Sienna Dahlen, Carlos Jiménez and Marjorie Fiset, among others. She also obtained several scholarships, including the Grace Evelyn Turtle Scholarship from McGill University, and graduated with “Distinction” and “Outstanding performance in jazz voice”.

In 2019, Zoé released her first song Lointains souvenirs, a song inspired by her vacation memories in Gaspésie. Then, thanks  to the support of CALQ and Musicaction, Zoé released her second single Au gré des eaux in July 2022, the title song of her first EP Au gré des eaux which was released in August 2022. We can hear, among others, his two mentors, Carlos Jiménez on guitar and Marjorie Fiset on co-production and additional vocals. Thanks to this EP, Zoé and her group had the chance to perform in several places including the Vieille Usine in l’Anse-à-Beaufils, the Toronto Undergraduate Festival and the Baleine Endiablée in Rivière-Ouelle. Au gré des eaux was appreciated by several big names in the field including Stanley Péan (Quand le jazz est là, ICI Musique) and Laila Biali (jazz singer and host of Saturday Night Jazz on CBC Music) who played the pieces from the EP several times on their airwaves.

Over the years, Zoé has had the chance to perform in restaurants, cafes, bars and performance halls as well as in corporate events and festivals including the Festival Bières et Saveurs de Chambly and the Desjardins evenings of the Music Festival. from the back of the World. A big fan of ensemble singing, Zoé has also been part of several choirs such as the Philharmonic Orchestra and Choeur des Mélomanes, the FILMharmonique Choir (which participated in the Lord of the Rings in Concert show) and the chorus of the McCarthey Symphonique show in 2022. He can also be heard as a backing vocalist on the song Nuage d'amour by Marjorie Fiset.

Currently, Zoé is working on her first album which will be released in 2025.  Increasingly assuming the influence of pop and folk in her music, Zoé wishes to put into song the path of a quest for identity that is both musical and personal. It is an environment where she gives herself the right to discover herself, but also to reveal the strength hidden behind her gentleness.
