Le Psychotropical Orchestra (PTO) revient, réveillé et revigoré. Né lors de l’été caniculaire de 2003 à Montréal, les fondateurs Mariano Franco, Fernando Pinzon et Jose Dominguez ont fusionné les rythmes tropicaux latins, l’énergie du Dancehall et le rock psychédélique en un son hypnotique et électrisant.
Leur premier album, Invasion Psychotropical (2007), les a propulsés sur les scènes du Canada et du Mexique, obtenant une nomination pour l’Album mondial de l’année au Gala de la musique indépendante du Québec en 2008. Lors du Festival de Jazz de Montréal et du Festival des Rythmes du Monde, les foules se sont laissées emporter par leurs performances envoûtantes et transcendantes.
En 2009, Pacheco Sessions a poussé leur son encore plus loin, mariant des compositions expansives à des textures électroniques. Alors que leur héritage se consolidait, PTO est entré en silence en 2010, laissant ses fans dans l’attente.
Aujourd’hui, après quinze ans, la magie opère à nouveau. En 2024, les OG du Psychotropical, Mariano, Fernando et José, se lancent dans l’enregistrement tant attendu de leur troisième album, prévu pour 2025—une évolution de leur passé, un nouveau chapitre audacieux et une résurgence de leur groove enivrant.

The Psychotropical Orchestra (PTO) returns, reawakened and reinvigorated. Born in Montreal’s scorching summer of 2003, founders Mariano Franco, Fernando Pinzon and Jose Dominguez fused Tropical Latin rhythms, Dancehall energy, and psychedelic Rock into a hypnotic, high-voltage sound.
Their 2007 debut, Invasion Psychotropical, launched them onto stages across Canada and Mexico, earning a World Album of the Year nomination at the 2008 Quebec Indie Music Gala. Festival crowds at Montreal Jazz Fest and Festival des Rythmes du Monde surrendered to their infectious, trance-inducing performances.
In 2009, Pacheco Sessions pushed their sound into uncharted territory, blending sprawling compositions with electronic textures. Just as their legend grew, PTO went silent in 2010, leaving fans in suspense.
Now, after fifteen years, the magic is back. In 2024, the Psychotropical OG’s Mariano, Fernando and Jose embark on the long-awaited recording of their third album to be release
