Ryoko Itabashi - Tsugaru shamisen

Perhaps you have heard the sound of her shamisen in Old Montreal or at a metro station a few years ago. Or maybe you heard it during a taiko (Japanese drum) or shinobue (Japanese bamboo flute) performance with the Arashi Daiko ensemble. Ryoko Itabashi is a multi-instrumentalist of Japanese origins who moved to Canada about 10 years ago. Even though she currently resides in Ottawa, she will honour us with a workshop on the tsugaru shamisen here in Montreal. Additionally, with her two daughters who are learning from her the traditional arts and the japanese drum (taiko), they will perform a concert after the workshop. www.ryokoitabashi.com/biography
