A precious jewel whose beauty and charm seemingly originate from the divine, the body has forever served as a limitless source of passionate inspiration. These odes to women (and sometimes men, such as under the pen of Abu Nuwas) seduce with their matchless, fervent intensity.
Passed down through the ages, these influential writings have stood the test of time. Many of these erotic poems have been popularized by great Arab singers including Fairuz (her Yama al Hawa is based on a pre-Islamic text), Warda, Abdelhalim Hafez, Najat Al‑Saghira, and the Diva of Arabic Song, Umm Kalthoum.
