A double-bill concert in the colours of an Algeria of a thousand splendours. A true immersion in the world of young artists with a hunger for new experiences, nurtured by the complexity of their origins and of the fire that has them champing at the bit to reinvent themselves, to go to the edge of their passions and to touch the stars.

After conquering the hearts of thousands of young Algerians, Meziane Amiche brings a breath of fresh air to the Montréal public, carrying the torch of Algeria’s artistic “new wave,” rebellious, creative, eager for discovery and renewal. In a versatile style freed from the shackles of society, exuding rhythm and letting loose, this idol of the Algerian musical scene manages to retain his own identity while revitalizing himself with a variety of styles, drawing inspiration from chaâbi as well as from raï and gnawa, with a nod to jazz, funk, reggae, pop and rock. He combines different melodies and carves out lyrics in a variety of idioms from Algeria and elsewhere.

With a remarkable voice and a mastery of traditional musical styles that he blends with modern accents, this talented young songwriter, composer and performer began his career at age 15 with the rap group The Three Bad Boys. After shining as a singer with the groups Caravansérail and Ifrikya Spirit, he appeared on numerous stages, at festivals and on tours, and made himself known as a solo performance through his great hits Mona and Hayet Zerrouk. Accompanied by the Montréal group Grooz, Meziane Amiche promises us a dazzling show, festive and colourful, faithful to the spirit of African nights!

Nomad’Stones, a Radio Canada 2018 Revelation, is a jewel of Montréal’s musical renewal. Led masterfully by songwriter-composer Chakib Kouidri, Nomad’Stones is a multi-reference musical group: the result is a mixed-race music wavers between the Africa of the origins and the West of the discoveries, with a styl imbued with humanism where the idea of frontier no longer exists.
