Daysormay

If you had the unicorn opportunity to see daysormay perform when they started back seven years ago, you would have known even then that they weren’t just fooling around.  Now 18 and 19 years old, the alternative five-piece band from Vernon, BC continues to amaze with their epic sounds and impressive songwriting chops. Unsatisfied to churn out simple three-minute rock standards, they continue to challenge their craft by hiking to new songwriting heights and attacking each new live show with a relentless energy of a band on the verge.

Lead singer, Aidan Andrews, formed the band with the twin brother rhythm section of Nolan and Carson Bassett. Rounding out the line-up are Eli Garlick on guitar and Craig Matterson on keyboards. All of them multi-instrumentalists, daysormay have been stunning audiences from their hometown, to some serious name-drop worthy shows in LA, NY, Toronto, The Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany, The Great Escape in Brighton, England and tours through Germany and the Netherlands.

Briga

Briga’s music is a reflection of her fragmented identity. She’s a creator, a composer, a producer, and a tastemaker… She’s a violinist, multi-instrumentalist, and a vocalist…

Recipient of the Stingray Rising Star Award, and nominee at the Juno Awards,  Canadian Folk Music Awards,  and Québec’s ADISQ awards, her songs are half instrumental, half written in French and English, of which all are accompanied by her fervent violin firmly rooted in eastern European and Romani folk sounds learned from the days her father played the piano to put the children to sleep.

Lakes of Canada

Founded in 2011 in Montreal, Lakes of Canada is a four piece progressive pop group with gospel and soul vocal harmonies featuring: Jake Smith on lead vocals, guitar, keys, and percussion, Sarah Morasse on vocals, keys, percussion, and organ, Conor O’Neil on drums, vocals, and keys, and Caleb Smith on bass, keys, vocals, guitar, and percussion.
Lakes of Canada has held the #2 most pretentious band in the CULT Montreal reader’s poll for 4 years running (we’re coming for you Arcade Fire). They have performed across Canada and been featured at Festivals including: POP Montreal, Canadian Music Week, Festival Folk sur la Canal, M for Montreal, NXNE, and Osheaga. In 2012 they won Best Band of the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival. Transgressions won best Traditional/Roots album at the 2016 GAMIQ awards.
Conor O’Neil and Jake Smith also recently won album of the year Juno awards, and Rock Performance of the year Grammy awards for their work on Leonard Cohen’s final record You Want it Darker. Lakes of Canada released their second album, Transgressions, inspired by Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale, on October 16th, 2015, followed by a tour throughout Eastern Canada. Transgressions was produced by Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes, Arcade Fire, Patrick Watson, Young Galaxy) at Breakglass Studio in Montreal. They released Transgressions Acoustic in the fall of 2016 and will be releasing their third full-length album, We Will Outlive the Sun in the fall of 2018.
