Bassem Monla has over 32 years of professional experience in IT Business and Consultancy; he is now an Artificial Intelligence (AI) & IBM Watson Subject Matter Expert at IBM Quebec and a Business Development Manager for Smart Cities solutions.

Bassem is a technology passionate: After graduating from Ecole Polytechnique, France’s top Institute of Science & Technology, constantly maintained a high level of scientific knowledge especially in the Information Technology & Telecommunication, as well as in the different branches of Applied Mathematics. This same Applied Mathematics is coming to an age where in fusing with IT is bringing the new promise of Artificial Intelligence.

Catherine Jacques-Brissette is Corporate Responsibility & Environment Specialist at Bell Canada. She is responsible for the climate change strategy, including evaluating & reporting greenhouse gas emissions across the whole company value chain, disclosing risks & opportunities and setting reduction targets.

Catherine graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal with an Honors Bachelor of Actuarial Science in 2008. She is also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Catherine began her career providing actuarial consulting services for pension plans and employee benefits plans, then her passion for environmental sustainability lead her to refocus her professional pathway toward climate change risk management.

Catherine chairs the Climate Change & Sustainability Committee of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, which aims to promote the meaningful role that actuaries can play in fighting climate change. She is also a member of CAP Développement durable, a not-for-profit organization highlighting the role of young professionals in the transition toward a lower carbon economy. Catherine attended the 22nd Conference of the Parties (COP22) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2016 in Marrakech, as well as COP23 in Bonn in 2017. She also gives numerous conferences at different events, including COP23.
