The two works on this programme have particular resonance in the lives of their composers. While Mozart finished his “Haffner” Symphony only three days after his marriage to Constance Weber, Beethoven wrote his only Concerto for Violin shortly after his secret engagement to Therese Von Brunsvik. Full of romantic spirit, these two Viennese masterpieces resonate with all their ardour and agility under the baton of Bernad Labadie and the bow of James Ehnes.
