Renowned poet, novelist, playwright, filmmaker and theatre director Sky Gilbert receives the 2024 Blue Metropolis Violet Literary Prize. He has had more than 40 plays produced, has written nine critically acclaimed novels and three award-winning poetry collections. His non-fiction book of cultural theory, Shakespeare Lied, was recently published by Guernica Editions. A new novel, The Blue House, is forthcoming from Cormorant Books. The Violet Prize is awarded to a Canadian LGBTQ writer for their body of work. The award ceremony will be followed by an onstage interview, book signing and the Violet Reading Series.
