FESTIVAL DES MUSICIENS DU MONDE

Evening 2 | June 17, 2022 - 7.30 pm

Part 1 : Manoel Viera & musicians : Unakesa

Virtuoso pianist Manoel Vieira (Brazil) proposes a project inspired by music from his native country in collaboration with musicians Jean-Pierre Zanella (saxophone and flutes), Juan Cruz (electric bass/double bass) and Olivier Bussières (percussion). This residency prefigures an encounter between the typical soundscapes of indigenous Fulni-ô music (northeastern Brazil) and contemporary music, through a series of original compositions.

Part 2 : Piazzolla, Beytelmann: Veni, Vola, Veni

Gustavo Beytelmann and Stick&Bow will present their new album Piazzolla, Beytelmann : Veni, Vola, Veni. On the program of this concert, the works of the famous Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla revisited by the original arrangements of Beytelmann. The play of the interpreters and the complicity of the cello, the vibraphone, the piano and the marimba will invite you to fly to the rhythms of a timeless tango.

Gustave Beytelmann

Recognized in the milieu as being the most important Argentine musician in Europe today, Beytelman is inspired by jazz, particularly in his compositions giving tango a breath of fresh air. With more than 60 years of experience on stage, Beytelmann has marked a whole generation of performers and composers, from Paris to Buenos Aires, and far beyond.

Stick&Bow

The energetic Montreal duo Stick&Bow brings together marimbist Krystina Marcoux (Quebec) and cellist Juan Sebastián Delgado (Argentina). Classically trained musicians, they present a wide range of musical styles, ranging from rock to gypsy jazz, through baroque and tango. Their eclectic repertoire includes their own arrangements of some of the most famous works in history, showing the full potential of their instruments.
