Ice fishing is an ancestral fishing technique that the First Nation have passed on to Quebecers and that has become a true tradition. This winter fishing is practiced only a few weeks per year in January and February, when the ice covering the river is thick enough to allows the fishermen to move safely and set up their cabins. This fishing takes place from inside heated and lit cabins that allow fishing under the shelter of bad weather. Each cabin (small cottage) has tables, chairs, benches, couches, etc. Depending on their size, they can accommodate from 5 to 20 persons depending on size.

The fishing The fish we will catch is the Atlantic tomcod, more commonly known as the channel fish, a white-fleshed fish measuring from 15 to 30 centimeters.
