Performance

Duration: 1h10

Audience: All ages

Description

Sometimes, we must side with accidents, storms, and shipwrecks. Above all, don't hold steady. By taking risks, breaking plates, missing the mark, walking on eggshells, breaking rules, and making omelets, we can go elsewhere. Le bureau de l’APA invites us to a performance-workout where they revel in chaos and disorder—and encourage us to do the same. Because, as Pippi Longstocking once said, "Disorder is so much more fun!"

In this performance, things will happen where they’re least expected. Perhaps, by embracing the unexpected, we’ll emerge a little more “antifragile.”

A festival favorite with its surprising creations (L’effondrement virtuel (2022), Le show sur l’effondrement qui n’aura pas lieu (2020), Entrez, nous sommes ouverts (2017), Les oiseaux mécaniques (2014), La jeune fille et la mort (2012)), Le bureau de l’APA sets—or rather, unsets—the table for the 26th edition of Mois Multi. This year's festival celebrates the importance of play and pushing artistic boundaries through risk-taking. Guaranteed sensations!

Biography

For over 20 years, Le bureau de l’APA has been crafting multifaceted artistic creations. Their work is rooted in connecting disparate elements, finding unexpected ways for things to work together.

Each project unfolds uniquely, shaped by what they want to express, showcase, or explore. Rejecting the constraints of disciplinary labels, they embrace an approach free from virtuosity or conventional skillsets, seeking offbeat solutions and adapting improvisationally. The results and conclusions emerge naturally, shaped by circumstance and intuition.

Le bureau de l’APA aims to subvert, dismantle, and contradict, reminding us that:

"You shouldn't believe everything you think."

Credits

A work by Julie C. Delorme, Laurence Brunelle-Côté, Josiane Bernier, Pascal Robitaille, Chloé Surprenant, and John Kameel Farah.

This project is supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
