Daniel Lemieux, Paul Marchand, Sabin Jacques, Sarah Marchand, Michel Faubert

DANIEL LEMIEUX, intermediate, advanced and expert fiddle teacher

Born in GaspEsie, Daniel spent the first 20 years of his life in the village of Mont-Louis. Relocated to Quebec in 1980, he played with his brother Jean-François in the region. They get acquainted with trad musicians and learn their repertoire. Daniel will then be part of the Manigance group which will leave its loan throughout Quebec and to Europe. His dynamic style takes place under the eyes of Carignan, Boudreau, Alain, Laporte and other days. He also has a family repertoire that he passes on to his son Louis-Simon who is now transported around the world. He is currently playing with the devil’s awakening and continues to animate parties of all kinds.

SABIN JACQUES, Accordion

Left-handed playing an instrument dedicated to right-handers, Sabin Jacques has a unique play and has developed, since his beginning at the age of 14, an extraordinary technique. His musical collaborations make him a versatile and accomplished artist: his multiple collaborations have allowed him to travel all over the world. Based in Montreal from 1992 to 2009, he made important encounters with popular artists such as Edith Butler, Hugues Aufray, Jean-Pierre Ferland and Grégory Charles, not to mention his contribution to countless evenings of traditional dance and entertainments in the trad scene in Quebec and elsewhere. As a trainer, Sabin has taught in countless workshops, having allowed hundreds of musicians, amateurs or professionals, to learn or deepen their knowledge of traditional music from Quebec. His teaching is said to be practical, energetic and always inspiring. Instigator of the organization Marée musique, he is co-founder of the Camp de Souches à Oreilles. Recently decorated with several prizes in connection with his latest album project entitled Grandes Rencontres, Sabin Jacques has a sensitive playing; without question that he is one of the leaders in traditional Quebec music.

DAVID BOULANGER, Youth class

Born in Saint-Hubert, in Montérégie, David starts to play the violin at eight years old. It is during his teenage years that he finds a passion for Québec traditional music. Always increasing, this passion leads David on the big professional stages at the beginning of his 20s with La Part du Quêteux, a band with which he records two album including one that was rewarded as « Best Album – Traditional » at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Later, he joins the epic Québec trad big band La Bottine Souriante, the two international projects Maja & David and COEFF 4 and recently, he gathers with his long time friends in De Temps Antan. David is also acknowledged for his music composition that can be heard in « Timber! » from Cirque Alfonse and for the original sound track of « Quand ferme l’Usine », a movie from the director Simon Rodrigue. Being a true passionate about Québec traditional music, and wanting to share his knowledge about it, he caries a unique repertoire that one can hear wherever David goes.
