Introduction to bryophyte identification

Bryophytes constitute an important part of boreal forest biodiversity, but are notoriously tricky to identify. This workshop offers you an initiation to the identification of the main groups of bryophytes that are present in the Abitibi region. With the help of identification keys, reference documents, microscopes and the support of bryologists, the participants of this workshop will be able to identify different species of Sphagnum, liverworts and true mosses. Come and discover the marvelous wonders hidden under your feet!

Les bryophytes constituent une importante partie de la biodiversité des forêts boréales, mais leur identification est parfois complexe. Cet atelier propose une initiation à l’identification des principaux groupes de bryophytes présents dans la région de l’Abitibi. À l’aide de clés d’identification, de documents de références variés, de loupes microscopiques et le support de bryologues, les participants de cet atelier parviendront à identifier différentes espèces de sphaignes, d’hépatiques et de mousses. Venez découvrir ce monde merveilleux qui se cache sous vos pas!
