The Underground Ltd. presents

London Calling: JULES O'BRIEN, LOGO, Zurich (England 英國)

Travelling all the way from the UK to make their Hong Kong debut at Morrison Cafe and Bar, alternative rock trio Zurich will headline a night of extraordinary British talent. With the hook-driven songwriting of The Killers meets the brooding atmosphere of Interpol, this is an exercise in post-punk theatre you don't want to miss.

When Jules O'Brien moved from London to Hong Kong, she packed her guitar and collection of bittersweet folk songs. Compared to the likes of Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell and Kate Nash, O'Brien has a talent for intimate, emotionally affecting songwriting that captures the imagination. Playing The Underground for the fifth time, her enthralling live set will open a very special evening.

Second up, Logo HK: veterans of The Underground and one of Hong Kong's most well-known live bands. Their sound draws from the best of British rock, earning them comparisons to Buzzcocks, The Clash and The Style Council, with a frontman said to bear a striking resemblance to Joe Strummer. On Logo's ninth appearance at The Underground, expect all of the same attitude and energy you've grown to love.

Nine-year-old Jules got her first guitar one cold London Christmas day and started writing songs. At the age of 14 she began performing her music with her band Jules and the Rubies, bumping into a budding Ed Sheeran, playing to Jamie T, and spilling a pint on the Mystery Jets along the way. Her songs explore a childhood in her beloved city, but also a journey into adulthood away from it – in Shanghai, Manchester, and now Hong Kong where she works as an advertising creative and music journalist. But — with folk finger-picking inspired by Laura Marling; rambling lyrics influenced by The Libertines; and flicks on her eyes stolen as a teen from Lily Allen — no matter where she goes, her style will always have London at its core.

Logo’s music references eastern sounds, hints of psychedelia, thematically challenging lyrics and delivered with a punk rawness constantly surprising the listener. Hong Kong live music followers will know Logo from their frequent live and festival appearances in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan etc, their first album “Illegal Brain” is available on all streaming major streaming sites.
Logo are Woolf (drums vocal) Kylie. Chow (bass vocals) and D (guitars effects).
