Lakes of Canada

Montreal-based Lakes of Canada was founded in 2010 by Jake Smith (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion) and Conor O’Neil (drums, vocals) as a “Simon & Garfunkel”-esque folk-pop duo performing Smith’s songs at various cafés and bars around town. The past four years have seen Lakes experience a dramatic shift both in style and membership: with a heavier, indie-rock sound infused with gospel/soul influences, Lakes have added the likes of lead guitarist Tim Dobby, Sarah Morasse on keyboards, vocals, flute and harp, and, Caroline Cameron (guitar, bass, vocals, percussion). Lakes of Canada maintains their commitment to vocal harmony (around which the band was created), but with a rich instrumental complexity befitting a classically-trained group of musicians.

Motel Raphael

Motel Raphaël is a young indie-folk-pop band from Montreal, led by Clara Legault, Emily Skahan and Maya Malkin. Since their inception in 2012, they have risen through the ranks of Montreal’s burgeoning indie scene at an astronomical pace.

Krief

Montreal singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Krief is taking a big stride with his 4th solo album Automanic, a work that's truly epic, by every definition. Following a devastating string of deaths in his life, and the end of a romance, Krief dealt with emotional trauma the way musicians do: by pouring all the heartbreak and grief and despair and fear into writing. His creative drive came with a dark underside of self- destruction, a phase he's grateful to have emerged from relatively unscathed — stronger, even, but forever changed.
