A classically trained pianist who turned to jazz through her love of old-school hip-hop, Elizabeth has been hailed as a "jazz virtuoso with a pop sensibility" (Real Detroit Weekly) and has been praised by critics worldwide for her compelling song-writing and soulful performances. Alongside Esperanza Spalding and Robert Glasper, she is part of the new wave of jazz-influenced musicians introducing this art form to a new generation of music fans. Elizabeth Shepherd was nominated six times for the JUNO Awards and twice for the Polaris Prize. She also released seven widely acclaimed albums, featuring collaborations with musicians such as Lionel Loueke and British producer Nostalgia 77.
