Marie-Fatima Rudolf
Marie-Fatima is a Montreal-based jazz pianist and music therapist.
She began piano lessons at age 4, starting with the Suzuki method. She then studied with James Anagnason at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She moved to Montreal to do a Bachelor of Music at McGill. After completing her degree, she worked as a free-lance musician in several Montreal ensembles. As a leader she recorded 2 records, Transparence (2009) and Songbird’s Prayer (2011).
Marie-Fatima then went to New York for a Masters in Jazz Performance at Purchase College to study with Hal Galper. She was in ensembles and classes with Doug Weiss, John Abercrombie, Jon Faddis, Gary Smulyan, Scott Colley and other faculty.
She returned to Montreal to do a diploma and Masters in music therapy at Concordia University. She currently works as a music therapist while continuing to be an appreciated presence on the Montreal jazz scene.
In 2022 she played and recorded in the Remi Bolduc Ensemble, featuring Jerry Bergonzi, Ira Coleman and Jim Doxas. More recently she recorded with Auguste Quartet.
Félix Stüssi
Be it on a bicycle or behind the keys, Félix Stüssi loves adventure and fresh air. Since his move from Switzerland to Canada on a cargo ship, Stüssi has turned his back on journalism. Jazz piano and composition are now his main focus. As a leader of his own projects - solo, in duo with Ray Anderson and Jean Derome, in a quartet with SuperNova 4 - or as a sideman in the Jazzlab Orchestra, Stüssi surprises with his good-humoured and spontaneous creativity and music that is strong and fragile at the same time.
