Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH and Autodesk are very pleased to invite you to the seventh edition of CG Spotlight!
Join us for an evening with a presentation, a panel discussion and networking with the Montreal multimedia community!
CG Spotlight’s goals are to bring the members of the Computer Graphics community together, to promote the exchange of knowledge between the Montreal industry and the academic scene and offer them opportunities for connecting and networking.
During this seventh edition, we will change things up a little bit with one talk from Rodeo Followed by a Panel Discussion (everything will be in English) :
Title of the presentation : Cloth, Hair and Wind: The Mastery of CFX for Avatar: The Last Airbender
Synopsis: Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender was a multifaceted project for Rodeo FX, filled with numerous classic challenges such as managing multiple FX, creating and animating a wide variety of digital doubles as well as designing grandiose environments.
While we often hear about these, one crucial aspect is frequently overlooked: character simulation. Embark with Josée Chapdelaine, Head of CFX, to discover how her team was tasked with the simulation of not only the clothing and hair of entire armies of soldiers but also with creating realistic behavior on the garments of flying hero characters and even the movement of shaken trees.
